MODERN OBJECTS
Identity + Branding + Core Asset Development
about the company.
Modern Objects is a company that collectively curates creative and functional objects intended to bring importance to a space. The collection of pieces and designs sources inspiration from the Brutalist era of design which places emphasis on raw materials and functional forms. Our goal is to bridge the gap between natural projects, high end furniture, and accessible design to create spaces that feel defined and can endure the test of time.
Modern Objects is a privately owned company with a niche collective group of retail stores in city centres such as New York, Chicago, Charleston, and Los Angeles. The company’s assets are easily scalable and built to be depended on for years of growth and expansion, while still maintaining a sense of customization and character within seperate city locations.
about the design.
The Modern Objects identity and branding design process started with a deep dive of research into the brutalist era, and the ways in which it has resurfaced in previous years. People have been tending to lean towards designs that feel simple and clean, but they have also been leaning away from things that are void of character. The balance between too little and too much is where Modern Objects is able to take its place. The logo designed is 2 broken down letter forms: ‘M’ and ‘O’. This form gives structural integrity and stance to the letters, while also allowing for vast expansion into other shapes and representative illustrations. The colors chosen allow for the company to feel more full and less void of character. Counterbalancing this, is the strict white and black solution that brings a crisp edge to the overall feel. Modern Objects branding kit was built to stand the test of time. Full stationary needs were met, as well as packaging solutions, organizational symbols, and key assets that were developed with expansion in mind.
